Smashin’ for Compassion. It’s pickleball with a purpose
May 25 — June 8: Smashin’ for Compassion is a fundraising event for Sorrentino’s Compassion House that brings communities together to support women who have to be in Edmonton for cancer care.
Cancer sucks, so we’re hitting back. With pickleball games, fundraising pledges and more, we started Smashin’ for Compassion to serve up fun while helping Compassion House create a sanctuary of healing support for women. As the saying goes: “When life gives you pickleballs, you hit em’ hard.”

How Smashin’ for Compassion works
Time to shoot a dillball and reach for that golden pickle! Running from May 25 to June 8, 2025, register yourself or a team to collect donations for Compassion House every time you play pickleball. Whether you play in a league, join games, or want to start hitting the ball and hoping for the best, you can set a donation goal and collect pledges. You can also send a donation directly to Compassion House.

Why support Compassion House?
Our dreams are bigger (and more wholesome!) than our pickleball game. At Compassion House, no one faces cancer alone. We believe that no matter where you live, you should be able to access cancer treatment. For many Albertans, treatment means having to travel to Edmonton and an additional financial burden for travel and a place to stay. We believe that no one should make the decision about treatment because of finances.
Sorrentino’s Compassion House provides safe, comfortable and affordable accommodations for women during their treatments, appointments, and cancer journey. We deliver much needed programs and services and create a space where women face their challenges together.
We don’t receive government funding, and rely on the generosity of people like you to make our House a home to the women who need us.
