About Smashin’ for Compassion
Supporting women from Alberta communities
Smashin’ for Compassion is a nationwide fundraising event running from May 25 – June 8, 2025. Participants across Canada play pickleball to raise funds to support women traveling to Edmonton for cancer care at Sorrentino’s Compassion House. Registration is by donation, and participants choose their own playing location.
Sorrentino’s Compassion House provides safe, comfortable and affordable accommodations for women during their treatments, appointments, and cancer journey. We deliver much needed programs and services post-treatment, and create a space where women face challenges together.

When life gives you pickleballs, you smash em’
We started Smashin’ for Compassion to serve up fun while helping Compassion House Foundation create an affordable and supportive place for women as they go through their cancer journey. Game on, give on!
The event runs from May 25 to June 8. Whether you register to hit the court and collect pledges for a pickleball match, donate to your favourite pickleballer, or give directly to Compassion House, there are lots of ways to make a racket, and be a “Banger,” in support of a great cause.
Set your goals and win!
Need a little extra motivation to hit the court? We’ve got milestone prizes along the way. The top Smashin’ fundraiser and top team also get prizes! Those are top secret for now, though.
The prizes awarded may not be exactly as shown, but they give you a solid rally on what to expect, just like a good pickleball match! Please note: prizes are not accumulative
Raise $300
Wipe your brow in style with your very own Smashin’ for Compassion microfleece towel. It absorbs everything except the tears of your opponent.
Raise $500
You’re a champ, now dress like one. Your new Smashin’ for Compassion shirt is the perfect accessory to show your superiority on the court or on the street.
Raise $750
Hit the court with confidence sporting your new Smashin’ for Compassion sling bag. It won’t fix your soft serve, but no one will notice when you wear this bag.
Raise $1000
Bring your snacks to the court (or anywhere, really) with your Smashin’ for Compassion cooler. It includes Dill Pickle Vodka or a dozen cans of non-alcohol dill pickle beer caesars for when you’re off the court, but still living your best pickleball life.
